CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUEThe Catholic Women's League was founded in 1906 by Margaret Fletcher. The League encourages its members to work both in the parish and the wider community. Members are also concerned with issues on a national and international level, speaking out on educational, religious and social concerns. The Wareham, Wool and Lulworth section of the Catholic Women's League meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7.00pm at St Edward the Martyr , Shatter's Hill, Wareham (apart from January and August).
We raise funds in a variety of ways and support many organisations within the CWL nationally and internationally e.g. Relief and Refugee, Our Lady's Catechists, CAFOD, Social Welfare, Children's Summer Camps etc. The work of the league reaches out into every area of concern and need. Donations are also given to local charities when our finances are distributed around Christmas. Members show concern for others, visiting the elderly and housebound and those in hospital. Our members are actively involved in the life of our own parish and offer appropriate support and assistance to our Parish Priest. Perhaps you will consider coming along to one of our meetings to get to know us in friendship both for spiritual and social events. This would be a particularly good way to find out what happens in our parish if you are new to the area.
